Residential Support Workers – Homelessness (Casual Positions)

Aboriginal Sobriety Group (ASG) is seeking to engage casual Residential Support Workers who are able to work shifts at its 24/7 Homelessness Services. Located in Woodville, 2 separate services are available: Cyril Lindsay House for men and Loretta Sumner House for women. The primary role of Residential Support Workers (Homelessness) is to provide practical support to clients in ASG’s homelessness services.

 Key Responsibilities (refer to full Job and Person Specification):

  • working as a member of the team to assist clients with day to day tasks including menu planning and shopping, household tasks (cleaning, washing, cooking) and assisting clients to equip themselves with independent living skills
  • working closely with clients to achieve their goals through mentoring and referrals to appropriate support services
  • ensuring use of established systems (H2H) for data collection and associated reporting requirements are timely and accurate
  • assist and support clients to access and participate in programs and activities, which are culturally appropriate and contribute to opportunities for them to improve their well-being and reduce substance dependency and maintain mental health
  • out of hours work required

 

Required Clearances, Licences and Certificates

The following screenings, licences and certificates are required:

  • Drivers Licence
  • Medication Administration
  • Provide First Aid
  • Safe Environment – Through their Eyes
  • Vulnerable People Related Employment
  • Working With Children Check

MAP Field Officer – 2 Positions PPT (4 Days a week) and Casual Positions available

 MAP Field Officer – Job and Person Specification PDF

Located in Murray Bridge

 

Aboriginal Sobriety Group (ASG) is seeking to engage Mobile Assistance Patrol (MAP) Field Officers to operate the ASG Murray Bridge MAP service. While in operation for many years, ASG will be running the Murray Bridge MAP service as of 1 April 2023.

 

Key Responsibilities (refer to full Job and Person Specification):

  • pick up and relocate clients from situations of risk and transport them to places of safety – which include private homes, places which offer appropriate medical care, sobering up facilities and accommodation services
  • assist and support clients to access and participate in programs and activities, which are culturally appropriate and contribute to opportunities for them to improve their well-being and reduce substance dependency and maintain mental health
  • build partnerships with local services including SAPOL, Crisis Care, Aboriginal Health Services and others to promote the service and to ensure service providers are able to refer clients or contact Map when they are concerned for community members
  • out of hours work required.

  • Drivers Licence (with capacity to drive the MAP bus)
  • Provide First Aid
  • Safe Environment – Through their Eyes
  • Vulnerable People Related Employment clearance

Screening and background checks

ASG is committed to the safety of our clients and ensuring the integrity of the organisation.

All employees are required to have a current Working with Children Check through Department of Human Services (DHS) and achieve a satisfactory outcome. Screenings are renewed every 5 years.

The cost of obtaining these clearances will be met by the employee.
